The album starts with the track Glancing Limbs, which is a great introduction to the whole sound of the band. It showcases the atmospheric style very well, and while the intro feels a bit long, I'd consider it a very good starter for an album of this genre.
Devotee, the next track on the album, is the shortest one measuring in at only 5 minutes and 42 seconds. It feels like a direct continuation of Glancing Limbs and it's in my opinion a bit of a missed opportunity to have them be separate tracks.
Following the shortest track comes the longest one: Above The Mountains There Is Light, being 10 minutes and 10 seconds long. It's led up to perfectly with the outro of Devotee, and it's in my opinion the best track on the whole disc. Above The Mountains There Is Light completely envelops a room; it's the most atmospheric and ritual-like of them all. To me, it is a good example of a "perfect atmospheric doom metal song", as close to it as can exist at least.
Now, Ambrosia, track number 4, is the most energetic of the bunch, and yet still very atmospheric. Despite the contrast, it feels welcome here, as if Above The Mountain There Is Light was just building up to it. The track also features accoustic instrumentation in the middle of the track. The whispered outro clearly sets this tracks end apart from the next track's start.
Lunar Nights starts very similarly to Devotee, with similar drum patterns and dreamy guitar melodies. While it definitely belongs into the album, it's in my opinion the most interesting track since it features more "traditional" lyrics and a catchy, energetic mid-section starting at around 04:50. I like this track a lot; it's my second favourite on this album.
Lastly, there's The Wild Shore. It follows in the footsteps of all the preceding tracks and makes sense as an epilogue to Mænad. It leaves the album in a satisfying finish and ends in the noise of waves...
All in all, I find this album to be very relaxing, and I like listening to it in full while working. All songs are masterfully crafted and there's none that feel like "filler content".
